You can run the course on any cell phone, desktop or laptop computer with Windows or Mac (Windows 10 or 11 operating system with Google Chrome or Firefox or Edge browser, and with the latest MAC OS (15.5+) with Safari or Firefox - Not Chrome). Before you start the course, you have to close any other programs on your browser and any other applications that may be running on your system. The only thing in front of your screen should be the course. A working monitor and speakers or headphones are required for multimedia playback.
Before you start the course, you will be requested to fill in a keystroke pattern for your identification. On login, you will be requested to confirm your identity with a keystroke pattern. In addition to the above, before you start the course, you will be requested to fill in a questionnaire with 30 personal questions. (* If for any reason you can't pass this step, that means that you forgot one question or you are typing wrong the dates xx-xx-xxxx) . During the course, you will randomly be requested to confirm your identity by answering a random set of 30 personal questions. You can fail up to 2 consecutive times. Upon failing a third time, you will automatically log out, fail the course, and have to start from the beginning. You don't have to buy the course again, you will receive a 100% free code to start from the beginning.

**IMPORTANT NOTICE**
Due to keystroke verification, you should run the course from the same device and avoid changing from cell phone to Windows or Mac-based computers and laptops (and it will not work on cell phones or tablets, and the opposite. The course doesn't run on Chromebooks, Linux computers, etc.).
When you log in to the course, you need to be ready to answer the Personal Quiz question and the keystroke pattern check. If, for any reason, you are not able to do that, you will be disqualified from the course.

This problem may happen for these reasons:

  1. The user got disconnected from their Wi-Fi connection, and then when they connected back, the transmission for the progress was last recorded many courses back. i.e., the disconnection happened in 2.5 and he kept continuing until the session refreshed and blocked them with a quiz or typing DNA test
  2. The user has disabled the cookies or Javascript or is using a proxy or custom settings or VPN on their router (most common in business or public wi-fi)
  3. The user has opened other tabs and/or is using other software at the same time that is taking the course, most common YouTube, Netflix streaming, Gmail, or Spotify. You are not allowed to have any other software or tabs open during the course.
  4. Similar to (1), the Wi-Fi connection is weak, or someone else in the household is using the Wi-Fi or the network, and the connection to the system was interrupted.

Solution: Go back and find which actual part course you can continue. If i.e. you are stucked on 7.7 try to go back to 7.1 or 6.7 etc. . There is a strong possibility that your computer’s browser holds cache, or in case your internet provider is using a proxy or your router is using a proxy, the old cache will keep submitting wrong data to your systems. We suggest to shutdown your system, restarting your router, and then completely clearing your browser's cache. To do that for the Chrome browser click here, for Firefox, click here, for Safari, click here

After this is done, find the actual available sections of the course that you are able to start. Now, you have to ensure that your system will not create any more issues. Do the course, i.e., 3.5, and after you finish and click next, log out of the course and close your browser. Restart your computer and jump back into the course. Ensure that the next chapter is available and you can continue as normal. That means that the issue is resolved, and your system has cleared your cache.

The reasons for this error are one of the following:

A. You have the password auto fill by your browser. The password fields should be empty, if you see anything there, delete it and resubmit.
B. You forgot one of the questions or you didn't type "I agree" correct. The first letter I is capital, no space after the last letter.
C. You have another primary language on your computer i.e. Mandarin, En-UK, Brazilian, etc. You need to change to the primary language En-US and restart your computer.
D. You have an outdated version of your browser. Ensure that you are using the latest version of your browser.
  • Chrome - Go to Chrome: version or click ⋮ > Help > About Google Chrome. ...
  • Firefox - Click ☰ > Help > About Firefox. ...
  • Edge - Click ••• > Settings > About Microsoft Edge. ...
  • Safari - Click Safari > About Safari. ...
  • Opera - Click on the big red "O" in the top left corner of the title bar and select About Opera.
E. You have an outdated version of your MacOS. You must have the latest version of MacOS to run the course (15.5 as of July 2025)
F. You are using a VPN. The course will not work through VPN due to security settings.
G. You have open and running on the back-end other type of software. The most common that causes issues are Torrent download software, camera software, game software or anything else that runs. Try to disable the software and try again.

Anyone who has not scheduled a road test but has received a Photo Learner’s Permit from the NYS DMV will need to take the pre-licensing course. If you are under 18, you’ll have to wait six months after receiving a learner’s permit before you can schedule your road test. You will also have to take a driver’s ed course or a pre-licensing course taught by one of the certified driving schools.

New York just launched the Pre-Licensing Course Internet Pilot Program, which makes online courses available to new drivers over the age of 18.

The pre-licensing course is 5 hours long. If you choose to take our company’s online course, you will have up to 30 days from the registration date to complete it.

It covers New York State vehicle and traffic law, basic rules of the road, safe driving principles, defensive driving techniques and information about the effects of alcohol and drugs, and other current highway safety concerns.

No, there is no final exam for the pre-licensing course.

It can take up to 48 hours for a completion to show up on your New York DMV driving record. If it has been more than 48 hours, please contact us at 718-400-7400 so that we can determine and resolve the issue.

Your course completion is good for one year. After one year you will have to take the course again.

At the start of the course, only the first lesson of the first chapter will be available. When you complete a lesson, the next one will become available. You can move to the previous lesson by clicking the "< Prev" button and to the next lesson by clicking the "Next >" button. The "Next >" button will disabled for the duration it would take the average student to read the material. If the lesson contains videos, they must also be watched all fully before advancing. You can quickly open any available lesson by clicking on its title in the course page.

We use two systems. When you register for a new account, you will be asked to type a certain phrase. The system will save your specific, personal typing style and will use it to authenticate you every time you start the course. For the second system, you will be asked to respond to 30 personal questions before starting the course. At random intervals throughout the course, you will be asked a number of those questions chosen at random. You will have 45 seconds per question to answer each one. You must answer correctly 70% of the questions.
Identity checks allow three consecutive attempts. If you fail three times in a row, you will be removed from the course.

An interim learner permit has no photo. A photo learner permit does. The New York DMV issues a temporary learner permit (i.e. "interim learner permit") immediately after you pass the written examination at a DMV office. You will get a photo learner permit in the mail about two weeks later.
Examples of photo learner permits:
photo learner permit example for drivers under 21 years old photo learner permit example for drivers over 21 years old
Before you can start your online 5-hour course, the NY DMV requires you to prove you have a valid New York learner permit that includes your photograph. If you have a temporary learner permit with no photo, you must wait until you have a photo permit before you start your training.
